Long before I became an esthetician, I had a love affair with faces and portraiture. I studied drawing and painting in NYC at CCNY Queens College, with a BA in Fine Arts. Riding the subway trains in NY I often pictured the people sitting opposite me as Rembrandt paintings. For a while I thought of becoming an archeologist, but during a particularly beautiful NYC Spring, I realized the library and studying were not where I wanted to be.
While working as a textile designer in NY in 1977, I heard the call of a spiritual master and I followed, spending the next ten years in the study and practice of meditation. The gift I received and bring to my work, is the joy of being fully Present, and honoring that Presence in each client, in each treatment. It feels to me like a divine dance…
As an Arizona State Licensed Esthetician I have had the pleasure of helping clients improve and rejuvenate their skin at some of the best resort spas in Sedona. Since I believe skin care is not just an exquisite luxury, that it's essential to maintaining a healthy body and a relaxed mind, I enjoy sharing these healing treatments in my intimate venue at Le Petit Spa de Sedona.
To offer the very best to my clients and stay on the cutting edge of skin care, I participate in continuing education in many different treatment modalities, including Advanced Face Massage, Facial Rejuvenation and new developments in skin care. As a volunteer in the Look Good Feel Better program, I have been deeply moved observing its uplifting effect on cancer patients. This inspired me to become Certified in Oncology Esthetics, enabling me to provide the extra-gentle therapeutic treatments so necessary for health-challenged skin, and so lacking in the ordinary spa setting.
At DEVIKA, I offer space for quiet and relaxation with treatments designed to facilitate deep letting go, while improving tone and texture of the skin. Complementary massage such as acupressure and lymphatic facial rejuvenation help create a renewing treatment tailored to each client’s specific needs. The skin care products I've chosen, are pure, natural and organic, and combine the best of both the natural and scientific worlds. They are designed to repair existing skin damage and prevent future damage - incredibly effective yet gentle enough for the most sensitive skin. I welcome the opportunity to create a specialized skin care treatment just for you!
